Note: My choice of conductors for the ten thematic entries was
dictated for the most part by what the grid would allow, rather
than any perceived superiority over the many great conductors I
had to leave out. My omission of the likes of
Goodall, Haitink and Colin Davis (to name but three)
should therefore be not be taken in any way as a lack of
appreciation for the great pleasure these fine maestri
have given to me, and to others who
share my love of music.
