As the answer to 18 suggests, this puzzle is a lipogram – a piece of writing which omits all words containing a
particular letter. In this case the letter is E – the letter E does not appear anywhere in the grid or clues. In addition,
Marvin has managed to include all the other letters of the alphabet in the grid.
Given the enormous constraints that this puts on clueing, it's fair to say that Marvin has done an incredible job
in producing clues that are technically sound, fair and that in most cases have a plausible surface meaning.
